Thank You Wade’s Charity for our Handrails

100 metres of handrails were installed in February 2025 thanks to funding from Wade’s Charity

We were delighted to receive, in early December 2024, a generous grant from our friends and long term supporters at Wade’s Charity.

The major activity, supported by Wade’s Charity grants has included the completion of four handrails alongside four of our all-weather access paths totalling circa 100 metres.

Two paths link the upper part of the graveyard to our main horizontal thoroughfare with the other two running downhill  from the same thoroughfare (the “Top  Road”), now have safe and long lasting galvanised steel handrails and fittings.

One of the new downhill handrails provides access to our double width wheelchair accessible path, whilst one of the two uphill handrails lines our original stepped path, with its Wade’s Way sign – this was the first access path created during our reclamation three years ago.

It also provides access to our new ninth official War Grave, dedicated August 2024.

We intend to coat with suitable Hammerite (or similar paint) later in 2025, subject to weather conditions.
